From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

The ancient but peaceful Owerri – Umudioka community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria last Thursday 31st of August 2023, lost its sanity, as youths of the area numbering over 100 stormed the ancestral compound of Chief and Lolo Adolphus Chigere, the parents of Mr. Festus Chigere and beat his partner Mr. Emma Njoku into stupor for allegedly involved in homosexuality activities despite warnings of desecrating their cultural and traditional identities in recent past, as Festus Chigere escaped

According to an eye witness, Mr. James Okoroafor who spoke to our Correspondent, that the community has been aggrieved , living with the peace of the grave yard for about a week after hearing and seeing in the National Televisions Cable Network that their son, Chigere Festus Osita participated in the gay marriage at Ekpan town in Delta State of Nigeria, that happened on monday August 28th, 2023 in which the Delta Police Command bursted and got about 67 of them arrested and detained.

Okoroafor reported that the community have been tensed up in grievances seeing their son been paraded before the publics for gay activities as a national disgrace, recalling that they have previously warned, advised and punished Festus and his partner, Emma Njoku against their involvements in homosexualities, which the community frowns at as an aberration that’s against their cultural and traditional norms, values and aspiration.

The community observed that such act is capable of invoking the wraths of their ancestral God’s and goddesses and the consequences are overwhelming against them, their land, children and generations.

The eye witness further reported that it was in the midst of these grievances and fear of unknown that news filtered in that Chigere Festus Osita and his partner, Emma Njoku have sneaked into Chigere’s father compound.

The community youth leadership hurriedly assembled the youths at the community center and quickly also they marched down to Chigere father’s house and spontaneously demanded to see Festus.

The ardent gay on hearing their voices and the way they were making the demands, sensed danger and made an attempt to escape with his cohort through the back window, unknown to him that the house was condoned off by the vigilant but aggrieved youths.

Festus escaped but Emma was not lucky as he was caught, dragged out and beating to stupor with curses and abuses. Eventually, the community vigilantee group was asked to take him to Police Station for possible documentations and charging the matter to court. Unfortunately, It was on the way to the Police Station that Emma Njoku gave up the ghost out of excess bleeding.

On noticing that Emma Njoku is dead, out of fears they quickly abandoned the corpse on the road and ran away,

Few days later, the unrelenting youths assembled at their Market Square and resolved to go to Chigere father’s compound to inform them that their homosexual son, Chigere Festus Osita has been ostracized from the community and declared a persona non grata.

It’s a pity they dropped the message after doing some collosal damages in the compound prompting the aged father to faint but was hurriedly revived.
